BackgroundHi! My name is Guv and I am Jashn Films. I am a videographer, editor and creative all rolled into one. As a child I was always more interested in painting and drawing than anything else. Luckily my parents were very supportive. I studied art for my Alevels and moved onto Chelsea school of art, which then landed me a place at Central Saint Martins. Over the past 20 years I have done various design roles and worked on campaigns for Virgin, BBC and Elephant Atta. I’ve worked for Bally Sagoo as a Graphic Designer and as a music editor for Eastern Eye. I also spent time at a record label called Sound Performance and did branding for Tinie Tempah and Disturbin Records. I remember being blown away by a wedding trailer shot on a Canon 7D by a solo shooter from Stillmotion. It was at this point that I started to explore shooting video using a DLSR. I watched numerous tutorials by people like Philip Bloom and his style of work was very inspiring. In July 2010 I took my first step and shot a music video for my brother. The rest as they say is history.
InspirationThe list is long but I’ll try and whittle it down! I admire Martin Scorsese for his ability to tell character driven stories so well. The visions, the pioneering and iconic work of Spielberg & George Lucas leave me in awe. The quality of recent TV programmes like Breaking Bad, True Detective, House of Cards and Game of Thrones amazes me. The amount of the detail, the artistic shots and cinematography that has gone into these is immense. All excellent pieces of work! I love modern British designers such as Damian Hirst, whose work is simplistic but thought provoking. And people like Banksy, who single handedly managed to get street art to be accepted as art. And finally my brother Lux, whose courage and determination to walk after sustaining a spinal injury constantly spurs me on to be the best I can be and to make the most of each and every day.
